MAMMA GOT A NEW GIG!!!
Wednesday, May 19, 2010
Yup, it’s true.
Mamma got herself a new gig. And considering the last sentence I just wrote you will laugh to know that it is a writing gig!!! LOL
Yup I am the latest member of Delish Magazine’s contributing team and have my very own column...Cats Reading Corner.
Those of you have been with me for a while know of my love for books and reading so this is just right up my alley.
The magazine is a newly launched (official launch date: Monday May 17th) on line magazine.
What is Delish Magazine?
Well I will quote our illustrious editor-in-chief and co-founder, Tamara Komuniecki, to fill you in better.
“So what is Delish all about?
Maybe it's better to start off with what it's NOT all about. It's not about making a woman feel inadequate, like she is not enough or does not have enough. It is not about rampant consumerism, but rather it is about appreciation of and participation in a way of living that begins at home--the heart centre of our lives, and extends to health, relationships, work, our larger community, and the world.
Delish is hip, not hipster. Witty, not obnoxious. Interesting, not self-conscious, and practical. It won't glorify Hollywood standards of beauty and thinness. It won't revel in gossip. It will celebrate true efforts made by real people to lie consciously, responsibly and joyously. It will offer information you can use (primarily for a female audience), in all areas of life: Live, Work, Look, Feel, Go, Care and Be.
Delish is a call to action for conscious living. We got tired of making do with magazines that catered to other women. We know our minds. We’re neither teenagers nor (God forbid!) cougars. We love our kids but don’t allow them to rule the home. We’re no more slaves to fashion than we are frumpy. We adore a good lipstick and hot pair of shoes, but do not live in a bubble. We know how to make things and fix things and get things done. And if we don’t know how, we find out. We’re well past the age of cynicism. We decided to create a quarterly, online magazine that appealed to us, and we think it will appeal to the millions of other women like us. Oh--and it's free. Yep. Free.”
I came on board late through my girlfriend, Cynthia Merriman, who is also a co-founder and the design director. She mentioned her exciting project to me months and months ago, and I remember saying to her if she ever needed a writer I would be happy to contribute. At the time things look good on the writer front but she would keep me in mind..thanks friend!
So true to her word she kept me in mind and two weeks before launch I received an exciting email from Tamara wondering if I was still interested in coming on board and if I would specifically like to run a book review column...YES PLEASE!!!!!
Not knowing a lot about the entirety of the magazine I trust what I knew about Cynthia and climbed on board and now with the first issue out I am so so thrilled to be associated with this wonderful project.
Everyday I go in for a visit and read about more things that I am so proud to be a apart of.
It is so evident to me that these three co-founding women Tamara, Cynthia & Emma, have put their hearts and souls into this magazine. Not only that; they have bought together a rich, dynamic group of women under one.....mmmm....shall we say...STAR, to come and work, share and do life together. And I get to be a part of that!!!! WOW!!! Chuffed much?????
So now you want to know where you can view this beauty don’t you???
