LITTLE MAN AND ME

THE SCIENTIST AND MOMMY TAKE A ROAD TRIP

Friday, February 26, 2010

Our first road trip...just the two of us. The Horticulturist brought us to the bus stop at 7:00am Monday morning. Since the untimely and still painful death of Westy, {ref. to  blog entry RIP} we only have one vehicle...plus going on the bus adds another element of adventure to the whole thing.

We were off to Kelowna, (approx 5 hours away) where we were going to visit one of my Moon Sisters....Jennifer....

Yup, I know HOT HAIR!!!!!!

So, between the two of us...The Scientist and myself, we took over 400 pictures...yup it is true.

so I think what it is I will do it do a little blog on what we did and all that jazz and then do a separate one of some of the more scenic pics we took. I will probably also create an albums for The Picture Album page, (for those who are interested).

We only had to make one bus change which was easy. The only thing was that bus was very full and no one was interested in offering their seat so The Scientist and I could sit together. This did not sit well with me and to be honest I was slightly surprised. People could see I was there with my little man but no one made the offer...what is happening to us as a people?

Moving on....I decided to wait outside of the bus till the driver came. He knew I was looking to sit with the Scientist, naturally, and so he boarded the bus asking us to wait outside, and he would see what he could do. When he came back he let us sit behind him on reserved seats...reserved for his belongings....and not only that he dubbed The Scientist Co-Pilot! Very Exciting!

So in the end we got one of the best seats in the house and The Scientist was given the task of making the announcements one the loud speakers. The Scientist was pretty chuffed about it all.

The road trip went really well, and yes I even got a little shut eye while The Scientist play photographer. In those two pictures above, he is trying to indicate that the bus driver is “NICE”, with his DS.

Oh it was so good to see Jen...just what I needed. A little break from home and time with a great friend, and her family. Same sparkling wine to toast our time together is tradition. A nice one I might add!

Thats The Scientist  with Audra and then with Connor, my girlfriends kids. When ever we go out in public it is assumed that they are all siblings.

Our first day there was as day of catching up and getting re-acquainted. The kids had not seen each other for well over a year so there was lots of changes but they all connected really well. though Audra was sad to have to share The Scientist with Connor and his friend Ace, when they come home form school...it was so sweet. We figured it out, though, and all was well....after all, like The Scientist told her...”I will play with you tomorrow!”

Tomorrow came and both Audra and Connor were off to school. Audra is in half day Kindergarten so after a lounging morning chatting over tea and coffee, we went to pick her up and we were off to Mission Hills Winery Estate.

The area in which Jen lives is know as “Wine Country”. There is well over 100 Wineries in this area    that house thousands upon thousands of acres of vineyards.

The winery we choice to visit today is one of the largest in this area....it is locally owned but I have to make a mention that the head wine maker is from New Zealand...a shout out for my Kiwi girls!

Here are a few shots of our afternoon there...

mmmmm should we take a tour???

Kids? yes yes yes!!!

Okay a tour it is.

After the Winery we headed back home...stopping on the way to play at the lakeside park....

Zip-Line anyone???

Rosy Faces.....

discussing their day over dinner......

mommy and auntie head out for dinner together... (Thanks Darcy!

The last day we were there Audra stayed home, much to Connor’s chagrin...

...and I got to do something that I rarely ever do...fo to the Salon and get my hair done!

When Jen moved to Kelowna, what seems like many moons ago, she became friends with an old work mate of mine...though we did not realize it right away. Colette, the old work mate, has a salon so I wanted to take part of her talented staff and have someone wash and blow dry my hair....straight.

This is something I do for myself now and again, but is a job and a half. always about half way through i wonder why the heck I started and if I should quit...I never have quit, but oh to have someone else do it for me...what a treat!!!

So after grabbing some Starbucks..it was off to Scruples...the joy of it all!!!

The night was spent enjoying each others company....

A good friend is a good thing to have!

Love you guys

Thank you so much for everything....

On our way home......

Now before you ask....I do have pics of me with my straight hair....it will stay like this till I wash it. I tried to take some self portraits...which I am more comfortable with but the pics just did not capture the look as well as I would have liked....so The Scientist offered to take a pic of me.....at least you can see the hair...Heather, who did my hair, did a wonderful job...I will see her again!

No, no colour added...it is just my straight hair shows off the colours a little bit more...

In a day or two I will post some more pics from our trip...scenic pics

The Scientist did really good on the bus ride, though on the way back there was less stops, so less chances for him to get out and stretch and he did feel it half way through...a few quiet tears were shed in mamma’s lap.
