3 MOON SISTERS AND A MAN IN THE CITY....
3 MOON SISTERS AND A MAN IN THE CITY....
WILD WEDNESDAY!!!!

This post is dedicated to my Southern Cyber Friend Dee....welcome to Wild Wednesday!!!
This Wild Wednesday took place this last Saturday in Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA!
The story involves three little girls named Sofia, Anna & Catherine,( who are part of a girls group called The Moon Sisters), and a Man called Ross. It was a celebration of Anna’s birthday, and the plan was to be tourists for the day in our lovely city. Both Anna and Catherine (me) live in the suburbs of this beautiful city, while Ross and Sofia live in the “heart” of it all.
The day started at 8:30 am at Sofia’s apartment.....
there we are...the three out of six Moon sisters....Sofia, Anna and Catherine
If you have been on this site before you will know that the Moon Sisters are famous for their “Tickle Trunk Time” and “Ridiculous Formal Evenings”...we were going to incorporate “Tickle Trunk” into today in the form of everyone dressing up representing their heritage....GOOD IDEA! But, alas because it was only half of us attending we opted to hold on to that idea for another time when more of us would be attending....so let the day begin....
The day started with hugging a Sunflower...we felt bad for it because it was a bit of a mutant, so we gave it some of our loven’.
Like most cities that are over 100 years old,
Vancouver has an eclectic style. Also being
a port city the style influences come from all
over the world. We spent 12 hours and only
saw a very limited area of this amazingly
diverse city.
I thought these signs were kind of funny side by
side, a true reflection of our diversity!
In every city there is the darker side...this day we did not venture into those particular areas, but they are visible none the less. Homelessness is a huge problem not only in metropolitan Vancouver but in the suburbs as well...there are many factors that feed this growing problem...The thing that affects me the most about this situation is the people behind those who live on the streets. This young man is someone’s son, perhaps a brother, an uncle. Does his family know where he is? Do they know whether he is alive or not? What brought this young man to this place? I am not trying to be a downer here, it is the reality of the times.
To put light into this matter, in this moment, I would say to all who read this, value those you love and the life you have been given...the truth is that this could happen to anyone, we are all not so far from our own falls in life. Treasure what you have and share your wealth...maybe not in the form of money, but food, water, a kind word. Look at another human being in the eye and let them know they matter, that they are indeed a human being.....
Vancouver City Hall....
After a classic B.C. Breakfast at White Spot...we were off to ride the RAV Line...A new addition to our public transit.....
Who knew riding the subway could be so fun!!!! We took the Line to Richmond Brick House and stayed on for the journey back, as there is really nothing at the end and we did not want to go to the airport....so on the way back, before leaving Richmond, we stopped at The River Rock Casino... where we had a bevy, some tried their hands at the slots and I met Phyllis....
This is Phyllis, isn’t she cute! I had to stop and ask her
if I could take a picture. Her outfit match ENTIRELY!!!
Right down to her earings, and then when I asked her
what her name was, well, it was all just too perfect.
She was up from the States for a card convention.
The couple below caught our eye because they were
holding hands. We did not get their names, but
they have been married 25 years. 25 years and still
holding hands!!! Love it!
Back on the Line and to the down town core we went.....
The art gallery......
After some Robson Street walking, Art Gallery step picture taking and the hunting down of just how many Starbucks there is in a one block radius, we were hungry. The birthday girl wanted to enjoy a lunch at the Art Gallery....so naturally that is what we did.
Three men and a baby.....
All of these pics were
taken during lunch.....
After a cold beer, a great lunch, and some relaxation we were ready to head north.....to the Sea Bus to go over to The Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver.
This is Lucas and Tamara, they were
runners competing in the City Chase
Scavenger Hunt...they just finished and
were kind enough to pose for a picture
They had been on the hunt for 4 hours!
We stopped to quench our thirst...this is when I realized that I had lost my cell phone......
(That Corona is for Widgey!!)
Anna and I are toasting to finding my cell. It was going to involve a trip back to the Casino, as that was the last place I used it, and my instinct was telling me it was there. We did call and they said no but I was sure...also Anna called the art Gallery and nothing was there....so we decided to head of the Quay, explore there for a while and then get back on the Line and head back to Richmond...where it all began...well, sort of.
This is where the day takes an exciting turn...we are now heading back to the River Rock. I know that if I do not find my phone here it is gone...after a few prayers care of Sofia, we are pumped that this is going to happen. Get to the casino and after being sent to 2 different desks...I indeed find my phone!!! Yahoo!!! BUT the story does not end there. the time is now 6:40 and we are meeting another Moon Sister Shellee for dinner at 8:00, so there is some time for Sofia and Anna to do a short round on a slot and us to all enjoy a refreshment and celebrate the finding of the cell phone.....well I thought I had won the lottery finding my phone...that was nothing compared to what Sofia won off her little 2 cent slot machine......
Yes, this is no joke and your eyes are not deceiving you!!! WOW...it really made my loosing my cell phone so worth it!! She promptly handed us each $20 to try our luck on the slots...this would be my first time and it was kinda fun....she then handed me her flight fair for the next Work Trip to Colombia and pocketed the rest at which point we left promptly and joyfully!!!
Wow what a day!!!
Now it was time to meet Shellee for a late dinner.....
This is Natalia, she and her husband
were on a dinner date, I thought she
looked so cute and happy, I had to
get a shot of her.
After dinner we thought of bowling, but all of us were feeling the tiredness taking over form walking all day. So, instead of bowling, we decided to go to the Bingo Plex across the street. None of us had played Bingo before and it was a bit of a gong show. We were all dying of laughter because the call outs where so quick, that we were lost, and I don’t think anyone appreciated my clapping when some one called “BINGO!” This, apparently, is a very serious buisness, it was quieter in there then a library....who knew???
After Bingo it was the long walk home.........
What a day I hope you have enjoyed it as much as we have. I was notable to use all the pictures of that day so if you would like to see more of this amazing day go onto my albums and click on “A day in Vancouver” and don’t forget to drop me a line and let me know what you think... catscorner@telus.net
THERE we are walking home with our Bingo Blotters...at least now we will have one when the next Bingo night comes up!!!
This day did not happen on a Wednesday but I was hoping to get this post featured on my South Carolina cyber friend, Dee’s, lovely blog. She is a former B.C. girl who followed love down to the deep south where she shares a little love nest with her husband and 4 children. You can check her out
